Passenger numbers at Dubbo City Regional Airport continue to track very strongly with 16,897 travelling by plane to or from Dubbo in March 2015.

The passenger numbers for March surpass the previous highest total for the month of March breaking another record for air travel in Dubbo.

Dubbo City Regional Airport Operations Manager Lindsay Mason said the result indicates the strength of regional aviation.

"Consistent high passenger numbers demonstrate that the Airport and air services are valued and well utilised," Mr Mason said.

"Already passenger numbers for the financial year are up nearly 4 per cent on 2013/2014 which is an indictor of the strength of regional aviation and support Council’s ongoing investment in the Airport.

"The month of March was also the strongest ever for Qantaslink with 11,841 people travelling to or from Sydney," Mr Mason said.

Dubbo City Council City Development Program Leader Ross McCarthy said strong passenger numbers indicate a strong regional economy.

"Monthly passenger figures give an immediate indicator of tourist and professional travel in Dubbo.

"Consistently high passenger numbers is one measure of the strength of the local economy, the potential investment and tourism potential and also validates decisions to invest further in airport infrastructure and services," Mr McCarthy said.
