Public notice: Airport Runway Reseal

Thursday, December 04, 2014

The main runway at the Dubbo City Regional Airport will be resealed on 17 and 18 January 2015 requiring the airport to be closed to all air traffic.

The required maintenance means the airport will be closed to all aircraft (with the exception of NSW Air Ambulance Helicopter transfers or re-fuelling) from 7:30am on Saturday 17 January 2015 until 6:00pm on Sunday 18 January 2015.

Early flights will still operate on Saturday morning, prior to closure at 7:30, but there will be no other flights until the incoming scheduled flights on Sunday evening, after 6pm.

If booking travel for the weekend of 17 and 18 January 2015 the public should contact their respective airlines or booking agents for information on flight schedules.

Airport Operations Manager Lindsay Mason said the resealing is scheduled maintenance to ensure the main runway continues to meet safety standards.

“Although we don’t like to close the runways for any reason, the nature of this project demands that we do so. Maintenance of this type occurs approximately once every seven years.

“Typically late January is one of the quieter weekends in terms of aircraft traffic and works have been scheduled to minimise disruption. However, we do apologise for any inconvenience to the travelling public,” Mr Mason said.
